Busted

Well crap. For such a great weekend it sure ended on a not so great note. In the last hour I tried to put up my new shelves but some of the hardware was missing. Bust. Then I tried to make the first batch of toffee for the year and definitely flash burned the butter and sugar. That's not supposed to happen. Bust. And the final straw was that in burning the butter and sugar I think I might have ruined my brand new super pan. Triple bust. Bring on the week...

Twas the Day After Thanksgiving

And all through the house
Only Erin was stirring
Like a Christmas Eve mouse...

The stockings got hung
The tree was so merry
The only thing missing
Was a mistletoe berry...

The hearth was aglow
With the candles' warm light
All quietly waiting
For a cool Christmas night...

The table was set
With all brand new dishes
The whole house was filled
With happy Christmas wishes...

When the clock struck midnight
And we sang without reason
The whole house was ready
For the BEST Christmas season!

Commercial Quote du Jour

From the Sears commercial I just saw:

"There's nothing like sticking your hand in the business end of a turkey before sunrise."

What's your favorite?!

Oafta ...

Holy ouch! I definitely decided I need to get some cleats... Tonight while rounding third I took a nice slide toward the dugout and tried really hard to get the guy behind me out. My rear end took the majority of the beating and my shin took the rest. Gotta love days that end on a wipe out note! :)

(And stupid Hobby Lobby told me my wreaths weren't on sale but apparently they are. Evil Hobby Lobby. Don't they know that I bring their profits up for the entire month of November?!!)

On a SUPER happy note: my frames are done! Check it out!

Ahhh ... productivity

Three day weekends are the best. Between my roommate and I, our place is starting to look bright and shiny for the holidays!

On Friday we went out and got the last minute items for our Thanksgiving table and I picked up some fresh new colors for my bedroom. I'm hoping to get my room prepped for painting this week and give it a whole new look in time for the holidays. The room is currently an odd camel brown color and I'm thinking I'll turn it a slate blueish-grey color. I have some aqua colored pillows as accents and all white bedding and furniture, so it should look quite cheery when I'm done. :) I can't wait!

We also got all of our Thanksgiving planning out of the way and finalized the shopping list for next weekend. I'm excited to host the Orphan-Thanksgiving again this year ... if you know anyone who needs a home and a warm meal for Thanksgiving send them my way! Our table is big and I only ask for a little bit of a heads up and some dessert. :)

Saturday I finished the first two of my Christmas projects. One wreath is down and two more to go. The other project was a set of framed mirrors for our big yellow wall behind the couch. I had to get my mirrors cut down to a standard frame size (they were metric ... the only downside to IKEA) but as soon as I pick them up I will get pictures posted! They turned out much better than any of my roommates expected, but just like I had pictured in my head... I love it when that happens. ;)

Sunday is wrapping up the weekend. I finally got a slip cover for our really (really) gross sofa in the living room and cleaned up the bathroom with a new shower curtain and bath mat. I just need to get in some last minute studying for my command board tomorrow and this weekend will have been a success!!

All told, things are looking up! I can't wait to show you all the fruits of my crazy (or as my roommate likes to say "Martha-esque") labors...

Silver Bells

Or rather, anything but! This weekend was AWESOME! I went crazy at all of the Christmas sales that were going on this week and I'm just about ready for the holidays... Here is just a sample of the spoils from the weekend:

And you can see the rest of it here! I'm still working on getting my Christmas Tree, some jingle bells, garland, a tree skirt, and stockings but I'm almost there!
